Life in Panama: Sunshine, Friends, and New Adventures 🌴
If you’re looking for a positive change in lifestyle — and to always feel warm — come to Panama!
Our friends from New Zealand recently followed us here, bringing along their eight gorgeous poodles, and they’re absolutely loving life. The dogs are currently in quarantine for 40 days — which means they can’t leave the property or be around other dogs — but soon Jazz will be able to visit them. For now, they’re enjoying their morning treats on the expansive terrace of their beautiful new home.
We’ve been relishing the cool, rainy days of the past few months, often sitting out on our terrace, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. John has kept busy managing a few renovation projects, taking on small jobs as they pop up every few days. I’m still enjoying my Bridge games and slowly progressing with my Spanish lessons — such a challenge to remember so much vocabulary!
Jazz continues to be a delight and behaves beautifully when left alone at home, even for nearly a full day.
This weekend marks Panama’s three-day holiday from November 3–5, and the compound has come alive with children’s laughter and adults relaxing by the pool with their favorite drinks. It’s quite a change from the quieter months when we’ve often had the pool all to ourselves. We happily leave it to the others during the holiday weekends.
🇵🇦 National Holidays in Panama
November 3 is one of the most important dates in Panama’s history — it celebrates the country’s separation from Colombia and the birth of the Republic of Panama in 1903. This event marks a turning point in the nation’s identity and pride. Beyond the festivities, it’s a time that reminds everyone of Panama’s unity, history, and vibrant culture. Fascinating!
Exploring More of Panama
Yesterday, we took a day trip to Penonomé, about an hour and a half northwest of us. It’s a large, lively town — I believe the third biggest after Panama City and David — and we thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
Looking Ahead
Christmas is fast approaching! We’re excited to welcome our Canadian friends arriving on November 19 — friends we met years ago in Tonga and have stayed in touch with ever since. It will be wonderful to reconnect after all this time.
And in early December, the son of a dear friend from Nelson (who now lives in Germany) will be staying with us — something we’re truly looking forward to!
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful time wherever you are.
With love,
Coral & John 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
