Just amazing!! 9 months here in paradise!! Our New Zealand is definitely now second best

Early July - Just amazing!! 9 months here in paradise!! Our New Zealand is definitely now second best - can’t believe I’m saying that! It’s true…..

We have been so busy lately. J (my dearly beloved husband) is finishing a lot of small jobs and now onto the wall and roof closing in the outdoor laundry area outside the kitchen. Will keep the weather out.

(I digress - after living in Panama for 2 months J and I purchased a delightful single storey villa type unit ( in Punta Barco about 4 minutes from the Coronado shopping centre) being one of a duplex in a quiet 5 duplex private compound with a generous sized swimming pool and a security/caretaker living on site.

We have completely changed the decor of our large 2 bedroom 2 bathroom & open plan living, dining & kitchen interior unit and surrounding land that pleases our visitors who enjoy the freshness and colour we’ve introduced. Surrounded by huge trees and colourful plantings the terrace is a relaxing enjoyable place to be with its lounge, table, chairs and BBQ.
We enjoy this perfect property for us - thank you heaps to Edouard of United Country Real Estate. After 7 months Edouard is still keeping in touch with us. He is a special man. Now back to my Update).

Although I am not playing Bridge as a regular member now I am called upon when they are desperate!! Haha - so enjoyed playing this Tuesday. We had a win so was good!

The garden is tidier now with the bougainvilleas tied up and yellow bushes replaced with the hedge plants we have around the tank and up the path. Everything grows so fast it is incredible. The Moringas especially. Will have to cut the tops off soon.

Yesterday we left at 6.15am and arrived in Las Tablas 12.30pm where we picked up our Maltese/Poodle cross puppy almost 2 months old. Will send a photo. He is small and cute! Should grow to a Miniature Poodle size. I was looking for a black bitch and have been looking for a long time….well we now have a creamy white male puppy! That is life huh?
He may change colour as he grows! Well a lot of shopping around getting things we need for him. He has 2 grass wees and whoopsie pads and he has used them already. Very good. Takes a lot of time by joves!
Needs playing with a lot and can’t go outside our property area until he has had his injections. Had 2 and next one in 15 days. Final One on 20 August so a while yet.
I carry him around as he is so small. Now have a carry bag for him. That is easier. He is very quiet and determined so hope he stays that way. It is just so good to have a doggie in our home again.
We have named him JAZZ.

08 July - we went with Coronado Services in their comfortable van to the airport past Panama City to pick up April & Dick.
(My 82 year old sister and her husband from Christchurch NZ).
Well we left Coronado at 3.15am and believe it or not we are now in a major traffic jam at 4am!!! Hundreds of cars ahead of us. All I can see ahead is a long string of red lights. We have been to Panama City a few times and never this busy. Maybe because it is a Monday.
Dozens of people at the bus stops. I wasn’t aware of the fact that if you work in the City and live out in the other townships you need to leave around 3.30-4.00am to get to work for 8am!! Now I understand why people on the afternoon bus from the City that we have travelled on a few times, fall into a deep sleep!!

28 July - just so wonderful to spend time with April. We gave them a nice rest. April asked if I could find them a church to go to and luckily my Spanish Teacher is the Leader of a Pentecostal type church for children Monday nights. Around 40 children. April had prepared English children’s songs for them and led the singing. They really appreciated it. Means the children are introduced to English in this way. They already knew some songs. Then on Sundays they went to the non-denominational International Bible Church close to our place that they enjoyed as well. April also enjoyed swimming most days with us. They left Wednesday and J went with them to the airport. He returned via Albrook on the Metro - a really clean fast rail service followed by the Formula One!!! 🚗driven bus home!
So so sad to see her go. So happy and thankful they came. Very appreciative.

Life back to our routines and J ordering materials to finish the closure of the Laundry area and an unobtrusive fence and gate on the path and at the side of the terrace for Jazz.
Thursday J bought his bags of coffee beans at the Market - grown in the highlands about an hour and a half away from here. I went to the Dr for a comprehensive blood test and that will be sorted out this coming Tuesday with the Blood Specialist who comes once a month from Panama City. Also both of us to the Dentist on Tuesday. Want to sort out our bodies for the rest of our lives haha…….$12 for a Dr visit and $34 for Specialist appointment.

We are getting used to the rain now and the more humid days. It is a discipline to take Jazz out every hour. He is gradually being trained. Learns very quickly. Can sit, stay, catch & return his toys & come etc. By the end of August we can take him walking some of the way. He’s still small enough to carry when he’s had enough……

We are loving our life here. It is amazing how busy we are. We started our early morning walks again after a break of 3 weeks. Come home ready for a shower after our smoothie full of lots of goodness including ginger root, tumeric, peeled limes, and/or fresh pineapple, papaya, mango, banana, Granny Smith apples, any other fruit we choose……then we enjoy whatever our day brings.

Thank you for reading this.
Until next time……
