January 2025 update

The large bus shelter here in Coronado at 5.30pm showing the Highway and surrounding  buildings. This is our community area a few minutes drive from home.

Happy New Year to you all!

Do you remember thinking, as a teenager, the next century was so far away and maybe we would be alive then or maybe not? Now we are blessed to be alive and well a half a century later……

Remember what it was like to be young?

I remember very well that we thought everyone over 30 was really old! Especially our school teachers who we thought were far too old to enjoy life and definitely too old to enjoy sex!

We had lots to learn!!! And I have learnt lots of ‘the lot’!

Looking back with this ‘learning’ I realise that at our school when I was 12 years old, the music and mathematics teachers were enjoying an affaire. Interesting.

As mentioned in my December Update I have been reminiscing on my youth and my varied and exciting life for many years after.

I do so hope the start to your New Year has been really positive……..

However that longevity has its positives & negatives. In the photo of my friends (25+) from far and wide at my 60th birthday in NZ, so many of them have now passed……however we  continue to be happy and healthy so that is a real positive indeed.

Now food:

Well you know about our daily smoothie full of goodness. Well, we do not eat a lot of red meat now. But, last week we bought a long Ribeye Steak. It was $20 and I thought expensive. But when J had cut it into 12 thick pieces I realised this was 4 fillet steak meals!! 2 for J & 1 for me each meal. Surely not!! Well, it was!

2 meals in the fridge and 2 in the freezer…..we had our first fillet steak dinner yesterday with roasted veges and fries and it was delicious! Loved it . 😊. Guess that’s only $2.50 for meat for 1 meal. A good deal indeed. A cooked chicken costs $6.50 here. They are delicious.

Postage:

A  challenge indeed. When we arrived here we were advised to join the Post Shop in Coronado - very expensive and I advised you in my October Update of the address through Miami.

We discovered that mail can take 3-4 months to arrive from NZ. We now know why!

So we changed from the Post Shop to Fast Box. No joining fee and good for parcels. Well, I want a postal service mainly for letters…. Yes ok at first but found that we have no mail received at all for us for 2 months over the Christmas period and like the Post Box we may have to wait 3-4 months for letters to arrive. Parcels are quicker.

Oh dear!!

So third time lucky. J found a great Postal Service!!

So I am trying again and this is the address to send us anything finally as follows:

NB: ANY MAIL YOU SEND MUST HAVE A “Track & Trace”……

just like you would have sending a parcel even when sending just a letter or card. Sincere apologies for not advising you before. We have just found this out……

Phew! Our permanent future Postal address? Yes!!!

We are enjoying the dry season here. Not as humid and occasional rain means we soak  the plants only twice a week. Our morning walk with Jazz often starts at 6.30am in the cool of the morning.

Amazing how fast January has gone and hope you enjoy my update while we enjoy living and loving life here in Coronado, Panama.
